SNAP Projection frequently asked questions
Q
Is SNAP really free? |
A
Absolutely, completely, free. Forever! We would love to hear from you if you use SNAP, so that we can let you know of any updates. But you don't need to register the software to use it. |
Q
I want to use a laptop computer to drive the system. What do I need to look out for? |
A
SNAP Projection can be used with a laptop computer providing it supports
'dual monitors'. This means the desktop can be spread across the two screens and not that the external is
a duplicate of the internal LCD. Most, but not all, modern laptops support this.
Please check with the manufacturer before buying. |
Q
With such a fast system I suppose I have to buy the latest power machine to run SNAP Projection. |
A
Not at all. An entry-level system is all that is required, although an extra video card will be needed
in a desktop machine or ‘dual head’ support on a laptop to support the projector.
One of the test machines is a P11 266 and the system works fine! |
Q
Do you sell projection equipment? |
A
No. For projectors you should contact a specialist projector supplier such as Projector Point |
Q
I already have a machine that I can upgrade would that be OK? |
A
As long as the upgraded system supports 2 or more screens then this should be fine, but we can make no guarantees. Please download a copy of SNAP projection and see if it works. It's completely free - so you have nothing to loose! |
Q
Do I need PowerPoint® to run a slideshow in SNAP? |
A
SNAP Projection uses the free Microsoft PowerPoint® viewer, so you do not need to install PowerPoint - but you must install the PowerPoint Viewer. (This is included with SNAP).
You will however need PowerPoint to create the presentation in the first place, but this doesn’t have to be installed on the same machine as SNAP Projection. |
Q
With all these facilities and speed, do I need a degree in computer science before I can use SNAP Projection? |
A
Absolutely not! We have spent a lot of time working with users of the system to make SNAP
the most intuitive song projection system available.
So much so that the 4 year old daughter of one of our testers was able to control SNAP in less than 5 minutes! |
Q
Why does my screen saver not work whilst SNAP is running? |
A
Whilst in projection mode SNAP Projection disables several standard windows functions,
including the screen saver, which could interfere with the smooth operation of the system. |
